Yellow teeth

YELLOW  TEETH

Tooth enamel is the hard, white outer layer of the teeth and underneath the enamel there is a dentin which is pale yellow in color.

Causes for yellow teeth:

1) Smoking - smoking makes teeth yellow because of tar and nicotine content presence.

2) Improper oral hygiene - if teeth are not cleaned properly, an yellow coating called plaque, can form on and around the teeth. Overtime plaque hardens to form tartar, which can be removed only by a dentist.

3) Foods and drinks - coffee, tea, wine, sauces, citrus juices, cool drinks.
4) Ageing - As age progresses, the protective enamel layer becomes thinner, exposing more of the yellowish dentin underneath.
5) Genetics.
6) Medication.
