Full mouth reconstruction with flexible dentures.

FULL MOUTH REHABILITATION IN 10 DAYS
@ ROOTZ DENTAL CARE & IMPLANT CENTER

An old male patient came to our clinic with pain in upper and lower front teeth region. He also complains of long term missing teeth in upper and lower back teeth region on both sides. He also had difficulty in chewing the food.

As there is long term missing teeth, the opposing teeth near missing teeth region got supra-erupted (drifted towards missing teeth space), the bite got collapsed and the facial height is reduced, so to bring back the normal height of his face & to correct the bite, we need to create space for replacing the missing teeth, so we advised to go for root canal treatment and crowns for opposing teeth.

As there is only minimal tooth structure left for lower front teeth, feasibility to save the teeth is not possible, we advised to go for removal of lower front teeth.

Since the patient is not interested to go for implants, replacement is done by flexible denture and precision attachment and bridges.

What will happen when we won't replace missing teeth??

MISSING TEETH - consequences

Tooth loss could result from caries, periodontal disease, trauma, infection, or failed endodontic treatments and can present severe complications on the remaining dentition.

Consequences followed by teeth loss:

  • Drifting of adjacent teeth results in space formation between the teeth. Food lodgemnet increases results in deposits and gum problem and dental cavities.
  • Facial collapse may result following the teeth loss and alveolar bone loss.
  • Loss of posterior teeth is associated with impaired chewing, resulting in digestion problems and inadequate nutrition.

  • If there is a missing teeth, biting won't be balanced, this results in jaw joint problems and frequent headaches.
  • Missing front teeth affects the clear speech results in lack of confidence. Teeth help us to produce sounds like f, v, s, z, ch, th, g.

Replacement of single missing tooth with dental implant

IMPLANTS FOR SINGLE MISSING TOOTH

Implants are the first treatment option to replace a single missing tooth. A dental implant replaces lost natural tooth along with its root .

The main goal of implant treatment is to restore natural esthetics, function and patient comfort.

There is no need of sacrificing the health of adjacent teeth. The implant becomes anchor in the bone and supports the crown, providing stimulation, and thus preservation of the surrounding bone.

Implant placement:

  1. Implant is inserted into the bone.
  2. Healing process of the bone (osseo integration) happens.
  3. Abutment is placed on the dental implant.
  4. Crown is placed which replaces the real tooth.

Single tooth implant is the most predictable and conservative method of tooth replacement.
