Multiple missing teeth replacement with dental implants.

 REPLACEMENT WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS

The best option for replacing the missing teeth is with the dental implants.

There are various options of implants present, but the type of dental implants shall be decided by your dentist depending on your oral health.

Let your dentist know about all your medical conditions(past and present) and the ongoing medications.

Before the procedure, some tests are done to check the condition of jaw bone, gum line, surrounding teeth and structures.

Bone grafting may be done if your bone is not thick enough.

PROCEDURE OF DENTAL IMPLANT PLACEMENT:

DENTAL IMPLANTS FOR MULTIPLE TEETH:

SINGLE IMPLANTS -- Single individual implants for individual missing teeth.

IMPLANT BRIDGES -- For two or more missing teeth that are next to each other, the implants are combined with dental bridges.

IMPLANT SUPPORTED DENTURES -- For full mouth missing teeth, implant supported dentures are more suitable. All on 4 implants or All on 6 implants are placed based on bone quality of the jaws.

Most dental implants are successful and lasts for years, but following certain healthy tips can increase the lifespan of dental implants.

  • Use water flosser to clean the underneath surfaces.
  • Professional cleaning twice a year.
  • Regular dental checkups with the dentist.

FRONT TEETH CROSSBITE

FRONT TEETH CROSSBITE

POSTERIOR CROSSBITE -- affects the back teeth. They can be unilateral (affecting the teeth on either left side or right side of the jaw) or bilateral (affecting both sides of the jaw).

BACK TEETH CROSSBITE

CAUSES:

  • Genetics.
  • Finger sucking in childhood.
  • Accident that causes jaw trauma.
  • Delayed loss of baby teeth.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS:
  • Cosmetic problem -- Altered shape or appearance of facial features, including jaw or facial asymmetry.
  • Pain in jaws.
  • Wear and tear of the teeth.
  • Frequent headaches.
  • Difficulty in speech.
  • Tooth decay and gum disease.
  • Trouble chewing or biting the foods.
In some cases, there won't be any symptoms also.

TREATMENT:

Depending on the type and severity of the crossbite, the treatment plan will be given by considering the several factors such as - age, overall health, personal preferences.

If a crossbite is identified during childhood, treatment can begin before age 10. When the jaw is still developing during childhood, palatal expanders can be used to widen the roof of the mouth and treat a crossbite. Headgear may also be used in the treatment.

REVERSE PULL HEADGEAR

Adults with mild case of crossbite can go for orthodontic treatment including braces and clear aligners.

Adults with a more severe crossbite, jaw surgery may be recommended.

CONCLUSION:

An untreated crossbite can cause issues with overall dental health and hygiene.

Teeth that aren’t aligned are more difficult to keep clean, which can increase your risk of dental decay and gum disease.

There are other chronic medical conditions associated with an uncorrected crossbite, including TMJ disorder and sleep apnea.
