TEETHING

Teething is the process by which a baby's teeth erupt, or break through the gums.

Teething generally occurs between 6 to 30 months of age.

SYMPTOMS OF TEETHING:

• Irritability.
• Difficulty in sleeping.
• Loss of appetite.
• Drooling more than usual.
• Easily gets upset.
• Keeping hands in the mouth.

Teething is not associated with 

                                                     fever,

                                                     diarrhoea, 

                                                     rashes over the body.

If baby is having any of these symptoms during teething, contact your pediatrician.

SOOTHING FOR TEETHING:

Massage the baby's gums with clean finger or back of a small cold spoon or a moist guaze pad.

Ask the baby to bite on a chilled teething ring.

Ask your dentist to recommend a pacifier or teething ring.

Baby teeth starts coming

TEETHING

It’s not hard to tell when your baby starts teething. He or she may irritable during the day and sleepless at night. Here’s what to expect and how to keep your baby comfortable.

Teething Starts on:

Your baby was born with all 20 primary teeth below their gumline. They typically start to come through between 6 and 12 months. Children usually have their full set of baby teeth in place by age 3.

Teething Symptoms:

What’s normal?

• Fussiness
• Trouble sleeping
• Irritability
• Loss of appetite
• Drooling more than usual

What’s not normal?

• Fever
• Diarrhea
• Rash

If your baby has any of these symptoms while teething and continues to be cranky and uncomfortable, call your pediatrician.

How to Soothe a Teething Baby:

Your child may have sore or tender gums when teeth begin to erupt. Gently rubbing their gums with a clean finger, a small cool spoon, or a moist gauze pad can be soothing. A clean teething ring for your child to chew on may also help. Your dentist or pediatrician may recommend a pacifier or teething ring.
