Treatment to deep cavities in milk teeth.



PULPECTOMY

A pulpectomy is a complete removal of pulp from the crown and roots. The tooth is then filled with a filling material that can be resorbed by the body. It's usually performed on baby teeth or milk teeth.




Root canal treatment in baby teeth is called as a ''pulpectomy."

There are several causes of pulpal infections that may lead to pulpectomy are --

1) Deeply decayed teeth.
2) Extensive dental fillings.
3) Trauma to the teeth.

Pulpectomy procedure:

1) Administering local anaesthesia.
2) Drilling a hole and removing the infected pulp and cleaning the canal and filling the root canal followed by inserting the stainless steel crown.
3) Prescribing the antibiotics.



Pulpectomy is commonly performed on milk teeth of a child to reduce the risk of early loss of primary teeth, which can cause the alignment problems in permanent dentition.
